Helleborus, commonly known as Lenten Rose, are an attractive bloomer of the late winter through early spring.  Although some varieties do bloom as early as December; therefore the other common name for this plant, Christmas Rose.  Commonly in European gardens, this hardy, easy to grow, perennial has not seen the popularity that one would expect.

Almost invariably hellebores are sold as shade plants.   One of the benefits is that
they will tolerate shady conditions, but by no means are they shade-loving plants.  Once established they required little care and also have minimal water requirements.  Keep your eyes out for this splash of color for the winter garden.
